Where Did Immigrants Settle?
When immigrants came to the United States, they typically settled in city areas. With many of them, they chose to settle in places where many people of their specific ethnic group also settled. If you and people from your home town moved to a different city, woudn't you want to talk and get together with them? This is probably what many of these immigrants thought also, except they decided to live right next to each other. A strange thing occured when the immigrants settled like this. It created many bubbles of people from different ethnic groups within a city. Different parts of certain cities like Milwaukee, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and especilly Brooklyn have landmarks of the ethnic groups that used to live there. Nowadays, those ethnic groups are being replaced by ethnic groups of modern immigrants such as Hispanic and Mung. Still, this pattern continues as people arrive to the U. S.
